Congrats on having the wisdom to reach out and tackle your challenges directly.
You’re not one of those people who give up and lives a life of quiet desperation.
You’re a Person of Action.
Showing Up’ is the most difficult and important step.
We’ll focus on emotional expression, psychological insight, and everything Practical. I’ll guide you each step of the way and we’ll make up for lost time.
If you read the other pages (123 in the menu), then that means
you understand my approach, values, qualifications, experience, what to expect, and all the benefits I offer. You’ve also heard from colleague and client perspectives that encourage my work.
It’s finally time to book our first session together and build positive momentum.
Confidentiality
Information you share is collected and stored with strict adherence to Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act.
Unlike a coach, I am required to follow and uphold principles as outlined by health regulators. The Social Work Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice is one example. As such, everything in our session is confidential. There are some rare exceptions such as court order and my Duty To Warn (if you communicate that you or anyone else is in danger of physical harm).
With your explicit consent (never without), I CAN write letters to your insurance provider, workplace, health professional, or personal contact.
Taxes
Psychotherapy services provided by registered social workers are considered a medical practice by federal legislation. As such, you are able to claim an income tax deductible medical expense from Revenue Canada. You can learn more about that here.
Coverage
Most of my clients do not have coverage but if you do, I encourage you check if your provider approves benefits for a ‘a registered social worker (RSW)’.
If you do have coverage, you will simply pay via e-transfer (details below) and I will issue you an official receipt that you can submit to your provider. The receipt will not say anything having to do with relationship or sex therapy. It will simply say “Brain & Heart Therapy Solutions”.
Accepted Forms of Payment
I accept e-transfers to this email: idesire@alifeofpleasure.org
Rest assured, the invoices and receipts will not mention anything intimate. The paperwork will simply say “Brain & Heart Therapy Solutions’. You will learn more about this process on the online booking page coming later.
Cancellation Policy
I require 24-hours notice if you would like to reschedule an appointment. If the cancellation is less than 1 day, you will be charged the full rate for whatever type of session you booked,. Please know that this is a strict policy. I have no choice but to charge for this time.
The reason is that someone else would have certainly taken this time slot. This means someone in need was not able to get support and must wait unnecessarily. For the same reason, I don’t offer consultations (see Page 1 for more info).
Regardless of any waitlist, people have very specific schedule demands. It is also unlikely that I can find a client to fill a missed time slot on short notice.
Life happens, no problem, we all make late cancellations sometimes.
I, myself am guilty of last-minute rescheduling so sometimes it just can’t be helped.
Lateness
If you are late, I will wait 10 mins and check my email for any messages until then. I may not be able to accommodate extra time if you are running later though I promise to always try my best. Friendly reminder to all, please try to be on time because I likely have clients directly after you.
The next step is to choose a session type and book on our secure portal.
The best part is that there is zero commitment.
